Random Pokemon Generator FAQ

What is the Random Pokemon Generator?

The Random Pokemon Generator is a free browser-based tool that randomly selects Pokemon from the complete National Pokedex of 1025 species across all 9 generations (Kanto through Paldea). Each result displays official artwork, type badges, base stats, abilities, height, weight, and Pokedex description. You can filter by type (18 types), generation (Gen 1-9), legendary/mythical status, and Base Stat Total (BST) range.

How many Pokemon are included?

All 1025 Pokemon from Bulbasaur (No. 001) to Pecharunt (No. 1025) are included, covering every generation from Gen 1 (Kanto) through Gen 9 (Paldea), including all legendary and mythical Pokemon.

What filters are available?

The generator offers four filter types: Type filter for all 18 Pokemon types (Normal, Fire, Water, etc.), Generation filter for Gen 1 through Gen 9, Legendary/Mythical toggle with three modes (All, Exclude Legends, Legends Only), and BST range slider to filter by Base Stat Total (from 0 to 720). The pool counter updates live to show how many Pokemon match your current filters.

What information is shown for each Pokemon?

Each Pokemon card displays official artwork, name and National Pokedex number, type badges with type-specific colors, genus classification, Pokedex description, full base stats with color-coded stat bars (HP, ATK, DEF, SPA, SDF, SPD), abilities, height in meters, and weight in kilograms.

Can I generate multiple Pokemon at once?

Yes. You can generate 1, 3, 6, or 10 Pokemon at a time. Generate 1 for a detailed view with full stats, 3 for a small team preview, 6 for a complete team, or 10 for a larger pool. You can also copy all names at once with the Copy All Names button.

How does the BST filter work?

Base Stat Total (BST) is the sum of a Pokemon's six base stats (HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed). The slider lets you set minimum and maximum BST values. For example, set BST minimum to 600 to only generate pseudo-legendary and legendary tier Pokemon, or cap it at 400 to find weaker, unevolved Pokemon.

Is this tool useful for Nuzlocke challenges?

Yes. The generation filter lets you restrict Pokemon to the region you are playing, the legendary toggle helps you follow Nuzlocke rules, and the generate 6 feature builds a complete team. The type filter also helps with themed runs.
